I offer this modality as part of any Therapeutic session.

Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM)

This is the use of surgical grade stainless steel instruments to gently scrape the skin to affect fascia and muscle tissue.

The original modality is known as Gua Sha. This Asian modality normally uses wood or stone instruments, and tends to be very rough - producing petechiae (ruptured capillaries) or bruising, which indicates unwanted tissue damage. Modern modalities are known as Graston Technique (Patented/Trademarked) or IASTM. Though the treatments may still be rough by many practitioners, it has been found that gentle treatment does not cause tissue damage and still has a positive effect. I ONLY USE GENTLE TECHNIQUE.
